TVS has recently launched their new Apache RTR 180 Matt black bike. There is nothing new in the mechanics of the bike, TVS has not introduced any mechanical changes in this model since it was first launched 6 years ago. However they keep changing the cosmetics of the bike similar to their rivals: Yamaha FZ. The Matt black color was introduced in the Apache 160 before, so this color is not new for the Indian motorcycle, scooters, mopeds and auto rickshaw manufacturer. TVS Apache RTR 180 matt black was first showcased in the India Bike week 2014 and now the sales have commenced after its launch.
TVS has developed some race engines which were showcased in the India Bike Week, racing version of the Apache RTR 160 was also one of the showcased bike in the expo. TVS having the capacity to change the mechanics of the bike cannot do so as the engines developed are only for racing and cannot be use on the public roads.
TVS Apache RTR 180 Matt Black has a 177.4 cc single cylinder four stroke engine which is capable of producing maximum power of 17.03 BHP at 8,500 rpm and 15.5Nm at 6,500 rpm of torque paired with a five speed gear box. TVS sold around 13,539 units in March and 14,266 units in February, this numbers are peanuts for Bajaj topping the line with 49,964 units of Pulsar in the month of March this year. TVS need more efforts to cross this numbers. Venu Shrinivasan, Chairman, TVS Group had announced after the launch that there will be a launch at the end of this year of yet another Apache. No further details were provided, however we expect the new Apache launching later would have different engine specs as compared to the unchanged mechanics for the past 6 years.
