Pioneers in the automatic scooter segment of India since the 1990’s, TVS Motor company launched its newest automatic scooter, the TVS Scooty Zest 110 in India, which is priced at Rs 42,300 (ex showroom Delhi) and is available in four colors namely: Black, Pearl White, Brilliant Turquoise Blue and Volcano Red.
TVS launched the new Scooty Zest 110 alongside the Wego and Jupiter, to hopefully increase TVS’s market share, which is currently at 15% of the Indian scooter market to a higher share of 18%.
The new TVS Scooty Zest 110 is powered by a 109.7cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which churns out 8 PS of power and 8.7 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT. The Scooty Zest 110 claims to have a fuel efficiency of 62 kmpl and a 0-60km/h acceleration time of 11.1 seconds, similar to that of the Jupiter and Wego duo.
Coming to the styling aspect and the features of the TVS Scooty Zest 110, the front fascia of the Zest sports a new “twilight” headlamp, new turn indicators, TVS logo boldly sitting on a two-tone front apron, textured floorboards and a white back-lit unit with fuel gauge and an odometer. The seat is also much broader and offers best-in-class storage capacity of 19 liters. The rear end features a new LED tail lamp, stainless steel muffler guard, an upmarket grab rail, boomerang shaped rear indicators and blackened wheels, give the Scooty Zest 110 a funky look.
The TVS Scooty Zest 110 with its new styling and funky looks is mainly targeting the 18-24 years college going students, who need an affordable, economical yet stylish ride. To make a mark in the scooter segment, TVS will have to face its rivals- the segment leader Honda Activa, Suzuki Let’s and Yahama Ray. We shall wait and watch if the TVS SCooty Zest 110 has enough credibility to achieve the company’s goals.
