Volvo India has announced that it will launch seven new models next year. Theses cars will include facelifts of some existing cars and the awaited S90. The company will also launch its performance division Polestar in India with the S60 Polestar. This will be a more sportier version of the S60. Let us have a look at each one of the seven launches –
Volvo XC90 Excellence
The Volvo XC90 is already a handsome seller in the Indian market. The Excellence variant will carry a lot more luxury than the regular XC90. It will house only 4 seats with the rear seats getting electronically controlled massage functions. The rear passengers will be offered other luxuries such as retractable touchscreen and a tray table. Other features will include a refrigerator and heated/cooled cupholders. The Excellence can be differentiated by the chrome touch-ups around the window. It is expected to be powered by the same 2.0-liter, twin-turbo producing 225 BHP.
Volvo XC90 R-Design
Next year, the R-Design package will be offered to the XC90 as well. It was offered to the S60 and XC60 this year. We can say that the R-Design package is just a body kit that offers modified front and rear bumpers, silver finish on roof rails, bigger alloys and wing mirrors. This car will then have a more aggressive look to it. We can expect some upgrades on the interiors as well. It will also be powered by the same 2.0-liter engine.
The S90 is a replacement for the age old S80. The S90 when launched will be the most expensive Volvo on offer. It will have ‘Thor’s Hammer’ Daytime Running Lights. The car will be launched in the Detroit Auto Show 2016. It will be based on the same platform as the XC90. Interiors, engine and other equipment will be borrowed from the XC90 itself. It has a rectangular front-grille and coupe like roof-line to suit the car’s character.
Volvo S60 Polestar
The S60 Polestar will be the first car from the Swedish manufacturer’s performance division to launch in India. This will be a sportier car to compete with the BMW M3 and the Mercedes C 63. The car will get sportier parts around the body. It will get new bumpers and sport seats. It will be powered by a 3.0-liter, turbocharged, Straight-six, petrol engine that produces 345 HP. However, this will not be the only S60 next year. The other one is described below.
Volvo S60 Cross Country
The Cross Country will mark the entrance of a new segment in the Indian market. We have seen and heard about crossover hatchbacks and SUV’s. This is a cross sedan. A sedan that rides high and gets SUV like features. The side height is increased by 65 mm. The sedan also gets side cladding and plastic exposed wheel trims. The car is expected to be powered by a 2.4-liter. 5-cylinder, D4 engine that produces 178 BHP.
Volvo V40 Cross Country Facelift
The Volvo V40 has been around for years now. The crossover has just begun to show a positive sign on the sales chart. Hence, Volvo is here with a facelift for the V40 CC. The facelift will be limited to the bumpers, headlamps and a few interior changes along with an addition of the Thor’s Hammer Day time Running Lights. The engine is expected to be untouched.
Volvo V40 Facelift
The V40 is the regular hatchback sibling of the V40 Cross Country. The standard V40 has just received a facelift in the global market and the same treatment will be provided to the Indian model. The changes will be similar to that of the CC sibling. However, we can expect the large touchscreen infotainment to come in the new model.
