After a thumping previous launches, Volvo accommodates itself for another launch in July 3. This time it is Volvo S60 T6. The launch happens in Chennai and the T6 variant of the S60 sedan was previously sold in the country, albeit on the pre-facelift S60.
Volvo Auto India that has already launched 3 new products this year – V40 Cross Country petrol, new-generation XC90 and the V40 hatchback – is now also planning to bring in the petrol model of the S60 – the T6. This is the same variant that was on sale earlier, but with the old model and a different engine.
The diesel variants of the sedan – D4 and D5 – are already on sale in India. Similar to its diesel counterpart, the Volvo S60 T6 petrol will be brought via CBU (completely built-up) route.
While the old model had a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder (304bhp, 440Nm) unit, the upcoming model will derive its power from a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that churns out a maximum power output of 304bhp and 400Nm. Transmitting power to the front wheels of the car will be an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
The new S60 T6 will be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels of the sedan, whereas the previous model came with an AWD system. However, the incoming model promises to be quicker to 100 km/h with the dash taking a mere 5.9 seconds. The new engine helps the vehicle go up to 230Km/h.
Since it will just be a petrol model of the car, there will be no design or feature changes.
But what 4wheelreviews has drafted is that, the Sedan class is likely to get in some features. Features on offer could be active bending headlights with LED daytime running lights, a sunroof, digital TFT instrument cluster, a 7-inch infotainment system, electronic climate control system, leather seats and park assist.
The new Volvo S60 T6 will compete against the BMW 3 Series 328i, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The sedan is likely to be priced around Rs. 35 lakh.
