Yamaha MT 03 is the naked version of the R3. It was unveiled at the EICMA 2015 in Milan last month.
Yamaha has confirmed that it will launch the new Yamaha MT 03 in India. It will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 scheduled to be conducted in February. The MT 03 will be launched in mid 2016, reports Economic Times. The motorcycle is a naked version the newly launched R3. It was showcased at the EICMA 2015 in Milan last month.

The fact that it is based on the fully faired R3 nowhere means that the Yamaha MT 03 is less than any other MT in terms of styling. The new streetfighter has a very sporty character. It provides a very comfortable and upright seating position. The seat height is lowered up to 780 mm. The fuel tank, minimal use of fairing, simple tail piece supports the motorcycle’s character.
The suspension duty will be handled by a telescopic forks upfront and a monoshock at the rear. The braking department consists of a 300 mm disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear. The new Yamaha MT 03 is not expected to come with ABS.

The new Yamaha MT 03 will powered by the 321 cc, in-line, twin cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine that is good to produce 41.6 HP @ 10,750 RPM and a peak torque of 29.6 NM @ 9,000 RPM. This engine also powers the R3. This motor will be mated on a 6-speed transmission. However, the gear ratios are expected to be changed to feel like a proper streetfighter.
The new Yamaha MT 03 was recently launched in Indonesia at a price of IDR 46 million (INR 2.2 lakhs). The motorcycle is eexpected to be priced near INR 3,00,000 when launched in India. It will take on the likes of Benelli TNT 300, KTM Duke 390, Kawasaki Z250 and the upcoming BMW-TVS G310R.
