Hyundai dealers across the country have started accepting bookings for the updated Eon with the 1.0 lt engine. The engine will only be available with the mid range Magna variant of the car while the base variant, Asta, will continue with the 814 cc engine.
This will silence many people who thought the 0.8 lt engine was underpowered but the car wasn`t designed to be sporty or sprightly in performance was it? The target group for the Eon was first time car users who have efficiency at the top of their priorities while buying a car.
The new engine produces 65 bhp and 95 nm of torque. The 3 cylinder engine is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, same as the smaller engine. many people who`ve been using the car for a few months now have said that the gear ratios are well matched for Indian road and traffic conditions. The expected economy of the car is around 15 kmpl.
Whether Hyundai will offer a LPG option with the 1.0 lt engine is unknown as of today. But the company will clarify by the time deliveries of the car start by mid of May.
The features list on the Eon Magna includes an immobiliser, 13 inch wheels with cover and keyless entry. Front power windows and air-conditioning are also offered in this variant. The one basic feature it misses out on is the music player but that is a good thing. It allows you to get music systems better than the standard ones which the company provides.
Hyundai has once again hit the bulls eye with the eon and the launch of this bigger engine will only attract more footfalls in the showrooms which will eventually turn into bigger sales numbers.
The Eon will compete with the MS Alto K10, Chevy Spark and the newest car from the MS stable, the Celerio.
