A Mahindra Mojo equipped with an ABS system was recently spied by Motor Trend. The ABS was a dual channel system as claimed by Mahindra. The system seemed to be sourced from Continental. The ABS is connected with a testing device. The brakes continue to be sourced from J. Juan, Mahindra’s Moto 3 racing partner.
The Mahindra Mojo will get a switchable ABS which can be turned on and off by using a button provided on the switchgear. Motorcycles often get switchable ABS as the system can sometimes be too disturbing. The interference may result in a not so good riding experience. The ABS can also lead to loss of control on some terrains.
This Mojo will have all the other features that are found on the standard variant. The ABS will come as an additional option with an additional cost of somewhere between INR 10,000 – 20,000. The Mahindra Mojo is powered by a 295 cc, liquid-cooled engine that produces 28 HP and a peak torque of 30 NM. This engine is mated on a 6-speed gearbox.
The ABS will be fitted on the Mahindra Mojo to meet the safety norms to be implemented in 2017. These norms will make it compulsory to equip motorcycles above 125 cc with ABS. The norms will also make it compulsory for cars to meet NCAP crash test ratings. Many motorcycles like Honda CBR250R, KTM RC 390, Apache RTR 180, etc. are also equipped with ABS. The Mahindra Mojo equipped with an ABS is expected to make its debut by mid-2016.
