Dynamic performance, intelligent comfort, refined aesthetics, yes we are talking about masterpiece from BMW, The mighty X6. X6 has derived a class of its own of being the coupe SUV, in technical terms a Sports Activity Coupe (SAV) that “blends the robustness and versatility of a BMW X model with the sporting elegance typical of the brand’s Coupes”.
Back in 2008 BMW engineers re-bodied their famous SUV X5 and rebadged it to X6. Some criticized it while some loved it, and BMW managed to sell almost 2,50,000 units. The BMW got so much fascinated with the coupe design, they did not stop there and designed a smaller Sports Activity Coupe X4.
As there are no earth shattering changes in the design, and one keenly has to observed the lines to spot the changes. At front new X6 looks identical to X4, new Headlights are bond with the signature BMW kidney grilles. Front bumper is revamped; new air trims are more imposed.
BMW says the new X6 is 32mm longer, 6mm wider and 33mm taller than predecessor. New X6 is lighter than current model and BMW also mentions that the new X6 achieves a 50:50 weight distribution. X6 will be available with three different chassis package.Comfort adaptive suspension package, Dynamic M suspension package and professional suspension package which combines comfort and Dynamic package for a complete experience.
BMW has offered X6 in three power mills, xDrive30d 3-L, turbocharged diesel engine making 258 HP and 580 Nm of torque, that reaches 0-100km/h in 6.7 sec. The second is M50d, 3-L triturbo inline six cylinder engine propelling 381 HP and 740 Nm torque, which reaches 0-100 in 5.2 sec. Last but not least xDrive50i 4.4-L biturbo V8 petrol engine propelling 443 HP and 650Nm of torque, capable of 0-100km/h in 4.8 sec. All these power plants are mated to 8-speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive as standard. BMW has not mentioned the showcase date however, It is expected that BMW will launch refreshed X6 in last quarter of 2015.
