After making prefatory sketches of the TUV 3oo public last year, Mahindra has confirmed the launch date. On 10th Sept Mahindra will announce pricing for its latest SUV, which was supposed to be the replacement of Bolero. But Bolero is the only vehicle from Mahindra fleet now is doing good consistently, Mahindra will not discontinue Bolero, hence the new product with new name 2015 Mahindra TUV 300 for India.
Team AutoColumn already showed you the in flesh pictures of TUV 300 sometime in the last week. The TUV stands for Tough Utility Vehicle and the company managed to get relatively upmarket interiors than the Bolero. 2015 Mahindra TUV 300 is expected to be priced between Rs. 6 Lakh to Rs. 8 Lakh, ex-showroom Delhi and will bring in on the huge demand for compact-SUVs in the country.
This is a new platform developed by Mahindra for all future SUVs. All new Mahindra SUVs will be developed on the same platform. Just like VW has MQB, Tata Motors has AMP, Mahindra is now moving into a modular platform for its future products. We have seen plenty of spy pictures of this SUV doing rounds of testing.
In terms of looks the design is inspired by Tank and the car gets a sharp character line on the shoulder. The car will be powered by Mhawk engine and expected to have an output of 80bhp that will power front wheel of the SUV. A 5 speed gearbox and AMT variant could spawn this car. Interestingly, being compact SUV the car has 3 rows of seating that includes last two jump seats. On the interior side, the car gets fresh design of dashboard inspired from its elder sibling XUV 5OO and new design of steering wheel with mounted controls for volume and Bluetooth.
The compact SUV segment in India is giving lots of options to customers from all manufacturers. Hyundai Creata, Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Maruti S-Cross will face some heat from Mahindra’s latest offering as Mahindra is known for making best SUVs for Indian roads. With on road price of 7-7.7 lakhs for diesel engine, all new Mahindra TUV 300 could change the market drastically.
