2016 Ford Endeavour seen at the dealership ahead of launch

Ford India is has rolled out two models this year and the third one is going to be 2016 Ford Endeavour. The upcoming model has been snapped at a dealership. The Endeavour in expected to be launched next month. The big SUV will be brought to India as a completely knocked-down unit, to be assembled at the Chennai plant.


The all new Ford Endeavour will come with two engine options. a 2.2 litre, four cylinder TDCi diesel engine producing 148 bhp. The other engine will be a 3.2 litre, five-cylinder TDCi diesel engine producing 197 bhp. The former is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions while the latter is only fitted with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. A 4WD system with Terrain management is also offered in the India-spec model.

Terrain Management System can be used by a flick of the switch to select between various drive modes, such as Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand and Rock. It gets Bi-Xenon automatic projector headlamps, Push button start, Lane Departure Warning system, LED DRLs, Projector headlamps, 20-inch mag wheels, Panoramic Sunroof, 8-way power adjustable front seats, Power adjustment for the third row of seats, Ambient lighting, Driver’s knee airbag, Front parking sensors, Blind Spot monitoring system., Rear view camera, Leather upholstery, Automatic Headlamps and wipers, Cruise control, Hill descent control. The American carmaker  will offer the newer SYNC2 multimedia system in the SUV which will allow for better smartphone integration along with better voice-activated controls etc.

The new Endeavour will offer five exterior paint shades –Cool White, Black Mica Metallic, Silver Aluminum Metallic, Sparkling Gold Metallic, Red Sunset Metallic.

It will compete against the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Hyundai Santa Fe, Isuzu MU-7, the recently launched Chevrolet Trailblazer and the segment leader Toyota Fortuner. Pricing is expected to be similar to the outgoing model which started at INR 22.16 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and went up till INR 25.67 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
