The KTM RC390 was launched in the Indian market last year. Given the power and aerodynamics of the bike, it was instantly popular among the enthusiasts. The bike is just a year old now and KTM has given the bike a mid-life update. The updated 2016 KTM RC390 was launched  at the EICMA 2015 conducted at Milan. The bike is expected to make its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016 which is just 2 months away. At such a time the 2016 RC390 was spied at the Bajaj’s Chakan plant. This is a clear sign that the bike is going to be launched shortly.

For those who are not aware, the update has nothing to with the cosmetics. The new 2016 RC390 looks identical to the existing version if we neglect the minor graphic changes and the new aluminium exhaust fitted to meet the Euro4 norms. The new bike is now more refined and claimed to deliver a better ride quality. The bike now gets a slipper clutch which will improve the downshifts marginally. Other upgrades include switchable ABS, ride-by-wire technology which will replace the existing cable mechanism, a larger 320 mm disc brake at the front and new adjustable front brake and clutch levers.

The engine of the new 2016 RC390 will be the same 373 cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that powers the existing generation. This motor is good to produce 43 HP @ 9,500 RPM and a peak torque of 35 NM @ 7,250 RPM. This engine is mated on a 6-speed transmission. However, the top speed is increased by 10 km/hr.
