Mercedes-Benz has officially announced that it is geared up to launch the new 2016 Mercedes A Class in India on the 8th of December.
Mercedes-Benz A Class was first launched in May 2013. Given the affordable price and impressive styling, the entry-level crossover was an instant hit. The A Class with the B Class, GLA Class and the latest CLA class have helped the company establish a strong foothold in the luxury car market. The German automaker has officially announced that the new 2016 Mercedes A Class will be launched in the Indian market on December 8.
The upgraded 2016 Mercedes A Class made its global debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show, 6 months ago. So, India will be one of the first few markets to get the refreshed A Class. The new A Class for international market has undergone exterior as well as interior changes and the engines on offer are also changed. However, India is not expected to get the engine refresh. We will have to live with the styling and interior changes only.
So lets start with the exteriors, the 2016 Mercedes A Class gets optional LED headlamps, reworked diamond pin front grille as standard, new diffuser with exhaust in it, new alloy wheels, reworked front bumper, new taillights and new color options.

The major changes are made in the interiors. The new 2016 A Class will now get a new infotainment system that supports Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay. Other changes include, new color schemes, use of improved leather, more cushion depth for comfortable seating, revised control switches and an optional 8-inch stand-alone infotainment system.
The engine options are expected to remain the same. The new 2016 Mercedes A Class is expected to be powered by the same 1.6-liter, four-cylinder, petrol engine that produces peak power of 120 HP at 5,000 RPM and 200 NM of peak torque starting at 1,250 RPM. The facelifted crossover will also get a 2.1-liter, inline, four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 134 HP at 3,600 RPM and a peak torque of 300 NM at 1,600 RPM. Both the engines will be mated on a seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.
The new A-Class is expected to be priced near the current prices as there are no major updates. However, if one opts for options such as the 8-inch infotainment system, the prices tend to increase.
