The 2016 Renault Koleos was recently spotted testing with a production ready body. India will get the car along with the world in 2016.
The second generation of the Koleos will get the same underbody as the Nissan Qashqai. The platform is called as the Common Module Family and helps save on weight and cost of both, Nissan and Renault cars.
The first generation Koleos failed to deliver what the company expected. On the contrary, its step-sibling the Nissan Qashqai garnered a lot of attention and generated a lot of sales as well.
The new Renault style is evident even under the camouflage. In the front is a large grille with place to adorn the diamond shaped logo, which connects the two headlights. The headlights are projectors with LED inserts. The side profile is well proportioned and similar to the Qashqai. Actually, many of the body panels are similar to the Qashqai; but for the sake of Renault, we hope this isn’t just a rebadged Nissan.
The similarities continue under the hood with the Koleos using the 1.5 dCi oil burner and 2. o liter petrol engines from the Qashqai. Considering the price point and segment the Koleos is in India, we will only get the dCi engine. For the automatic ‘box, Renault normally uses double clutch and we expect no change on this front.
According to some reports, the Koleos SUV will be discontinued, but as the Koleos has now made the transition from an SUV to a crossover, we cannot put weight on such reports.
