The Toyota Innova has ruled over the Indians’ hearts for nearly a decade now. The MPV has become like a symbol of financial success for the common man. Big cars have always been the favorite for Indian buyers. But, the Innova is like a benchmark in their lives. They feel their success on the day when they drive their all-new Innova for the first to their offices. This has been a common criteria for most of us. To go a little personal, even my Dad measures success by the number of Innova’s. Hope he doesn’t read this. 😉 So when the second generation of a such a car is worth the excitement.
We have reported the launch of the 2016 Toyota Innova at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016 few days ago. We also reported that the 2nd generation MPV will be launched for the Indonesian market by the end of Novemeber. So, the time has come, the 2016 Toyota innova has made its global debut with its launch for the Indonesian market at the Guangzhou Motor Show. The MPV is launched at a starting price of IDR 289 million, approximately INR 13.59 lakhs and the top end at IDR 423.8 million, approx. INR 20.43 lakhs.
The 2016 Toyota Innova is based on the Japanese manufacturer’s Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. For those who have read the previous article, this may seem like repetition as we have already shared all the details about the new MPV. The new 2016 Toyota Innova is offered with a GD 2.4-liter, diesel engine that produce 147 BHP at 3,400 RPM and a peak torque of 359 NM at 1,200-2,800 RPM and 2.0-liter, in-line, 4-cylinder petrol VVT-i engine that produces 137 BHP and 189 NM of peak torque.
The exteriors are completely redone. The front of the car has a hexagonal grille which houses two chrome slats, to compliment the car’s aggressive look. The headlamps are newly designed and have Day Time Running LED’s. Both the sides are similar to the existing version but more muscular. The rear gets new tail lamps. The interiors are also changed for good. The interiors get a premium touch by the new upholstery. The MPV gets a new 8″ infotainment touch screen display. The MPV will be offered with a lot of media input points with a web browser. The 2016 Toyota Innova gets other features too such as cooled glove box, console box, a lot of cupholders, all auto-window buttons, smartphone integration and a voice command.
According to Toyota’s new policy, all the new vehicles will focus on safety. The new 2016 Toyota Innova will come with dual SRS airbags, knee airbag, ABS, EBD as standard. The top-end will be offered with 7 airbags and hill start control.
