Honda DIO Year 2000-2011
The Honda Dio is a vehicle which is appreciated by the Indian Enthusiasts for over more than a decade now. Out of the various plus points, the vehicle is appreciated due to its negligible weight and its unique design. For the Indian market in the year 2000, was filled with TVS Scooty, and Kinetic Honda. Thus when The Honda Dio was launched back in the year 2000, it proved to be a game-changing vehicle for the manufacturer as well as for the industry.
The mid-mounted headlight of the vehicle proved to be one of the main points in making people fall for it. Although the vehicle came in a full fibre body, it was readily accepted by the Indian Market.
Till the year 2002-04, the vehicle was well renowned in the country and was running on the streets by proud and happy customers. Later from 2005/06, the era of modifications arose. The Honda Dio being unique in design as compared to every other moped on road, had a lot of potential in it which could be played with and enhanced. Thus in the years 2005 till today, Honda Dio happens to be the most modified moped on road in the Indian market. So much so, that in the year 2012, when the Honda Dio 2012 new model was launched, it came with a Matt Axis Grey Metallic colour. The reason behind this somewhere was, that at least 70% of the vehicles on road were painted Matt Black with sprays cans and were modified and or rendered extremely.
Honda DIO 2012 Model
After the 2012 Honda Dio launch, people’s interest in the vehicle drastically deteriorated as the new design concept was something much heftier. The extra body work on the moped didn’t seem good at all, and to top it off, the vehicle appeared more likely appeared like girls ride. The whole reason behind the vehicle being popular in the market was its design, its attitude, the coolness it flaunted with its headlamp. The 2012 Honda Dio model was just like ending an era of the most loved moped on road by the enthusiasts.
After the 2012 Honda Dio model, there were a few cosmetic changes the vehicle went through every year, and now here we have the 2017 BSIV Compliant Honda Dio.
2017 BSIV Compliant Honda DIO:
Honda Dio 2017 model comes with some major cosmetic updates and also receives some updates in its regular features as well. A new set of graphics, LED’s and a reworked speedo.
2017 BSIV Compliant Honda DIO Engine:
The 2017 Honda Dio comes with the same 109.19 cc engine. The Mill is air cooled and is suited to a V-matic Gearbox. The small block produces about 8 Bhp and can deliver a peak torque of 8.91 Nm at 5500 RPMs. The main upgrade includes an IC engine which is BSIV compliant. BSIV meaning, Bharat stage emission standards’ are emission standards instituted by the Government of India to regulate the output of air pollutants from internal combustion engine equipment, including motor vehicles. The standards and the timeline for implementation are set by the Central Pollution Control Board under the Ministry of Environment & Forests and climate change.
2017 Honda DIO Upgrades:
The 2017 Honda Dio comes with new graphic updates. The graphics are suited to make the moped look a bit sportier. The vehicle comes with a new set of Led lamp on the head, and the headlight gets the auto headlamp on. The vehicle comes with a reworked speedometer and with Honda’s Patented Combined breaking system. Apart from the New LED lamp, even the front show(apron) is rendered a bit.
2017 Honda DIO Mileage:
The vehicle is one of the lightest scooters in its category. The Company claims and expects the vehicle to deliver around 62 Km-pl of mileage. Although we can Expect around 50-55 Km-pl of average from the moped in the city.
2017 Honda Dio Color Variants:
The 2017 Honda DIO comes with the regular colour shades offered from the manufacturer. The Orange colour seems new but other than that the same old colour scheme is available.

Apart from the 2017 Honda Dio, the other vehicles which are readily suited with the BSIV engines and are delivered to the showrooms are The Honda Activa & Honda Aviator. Among the bikes, the Royal Enfiled Series gets the BSIV update. In a country where pollution seems to be one of the major problems and population the other, the need of two wheelers seems to be never ending. Thus the initiate taken by the Govt seems to be a very important move in ensuring countries betterment. Apart from the new vehicles, there should be something done for the old vehicles out there as well. As considering the ration of new vehicles over old ones, it would take a whole lot of years for the market to be filled with vehicles that have BSIV engines.
