The new entry level SUV from Jaguar is called 2018 Jaguar E-Pace and it is now unveiled. AutoColumn has the first information about engines, price, and launch. British stunt driver Terry Grant attempted car spin that’s 15 meters through the air and a 270-degree flip. He is the same driver who did successful 62ft loop-the-loop in the F-Pace in 2015.
He jumped from a ramp at 50mph, spun the car 15meters in the air and then landed wheels on the ground. Sounds very easy by maths but it’s not. This was supposed to be a very risky stunt but the Jaguar did it and this is another feather in the cap for Jaguar and a Guinness World Record for the “Farthest Barrel Roll Jump for a Production Car”.
Jaguar E-Pace Launch
Jaguar has tested the limits of the car in the development phase. Over 150 prototypes had been on four continents for two years, to withstand extreme temperatures between minus 40 and plus 49 degrees. The car also had completed 400 days over world’s best track Nurburgring. Being an SUV from Jaguar the also has been through 50cm water wading test during the development.
Jaguar E-Pace Design and Features
The smallest SUV from Jaguar looks like F-type on steroids. The shape of the side mirror, the shoulder line and the line signature and even the shape of rear window are reminiscent of the F-Pace. The most striking part in this SUV is the headlight which is less aggressive than the F-Pace. The E-Pace is available with 3 variants in the main category and then sub-variants in each category. The first one is base variant E-Pace then E-Pace S, SE, and HSE. There are similar variants available in E-Pace R-Dynamic (S, SE and HSE) and the top of the line variant is E-Pace First Edition.
Jaguar E-Pace Price in India
The car is expected to sit a bit higher than Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Mercedes GLA in terms of pricing which are already settled in the Indian market. There are high chances that Jaguar India will start local assembly of this car in its plant behind Tata Motors. A competitive price tag, in that case, will be expected from Jaguar after local assembly/production start. In Europe, the car will start its pricing from 35000 Euros which is approximately 25.7 Lakh INR.
Jaguar E-Pace Engines
The E-Pace is available with a choice of five 4-cylinder Ingenium engines (three diesel and two petrol options), which are all made out of aluminum and designed and manufactured in-house in the UK. The transverse engine layout helps trim down the length of the car, which was evidently a design priority inside Jaguar. The company even designed the nine-speed automatic transmission specifically for transverse engine applications.
