Strengthening its position in the Indian luxury car market, BMW India has launched the 3-Series GT at INR 42.75 lakhs. The car is assembled at the BMW facility at the Mahindra World City in Singaperumal Koil, near Chennai.
The 3 series GT, like all other BMW GT models, has a coupe like sloping roofline and frameless windows. The car looks rear heavy and bears resemblance to the 5 Series GT. The interiors however distinguish it from its elder sibling. The car comes with an automatic spoiler which is deployed at 110 kmph and retracts at 70 kmph. The car is 200mm longer and 81mm taller than the standard 3 Series.
The car will be available as a diesel variant, the 320d GT across India at the same price. The two litre 4-cyinder turbo engine produces 184 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. The engine uses BMWs Twinpower turbo to propel the car to 100 kmph in 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 226 kmph. The car uses an 8-speed automatic ZF gearbox to transfer the power from the engine to the rear wheels effectively.
The 3 Series GT is the perfect mixture of spot on driving dynamics of a touring car with the elegance and functionality of a saloon car.
BMW India recently won the first place in customer satisfaction and after sales service by scoring 892 points in the J D Power Asia-Pacific survey.
