Good news ahead for the Chevy lovers. General Motors have confirmed that the Chevrolet Trailblazer India launch will take place in the second half of 2015. The process is already on and the news is yet to arrive from the centre.
For now, we can have a detailed description for the Chevy Trailblazer, sooner to get on to the showrooms. The Indian subsidiary of General Motors has just confirmed that it plans to bring the highly anticipated Trailblazer SUV to our shores, and our guess is that the upcoming Toyota Fortuner adversary could be launched around Diwali this year as well.
GM India is keen on launching the 2016 model year version of the SUV, however, the Rayong plant is presently making the 2015 model year of the Trailblazer. Once the plant commences manufacturing the 2016 MY, GM India will launch the Trailblazer in the country.
The Trailblazer is a full-sized SUV that looks sufficiently modern and well proportioned. While the Trailblazer carries many design cues that are typical of Chevy trucks, it doesn’t have a sense of boxiness in its design. On the contrary, the Trailblazer oozes street cred and looks as muscular as the Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour.
The interior comes same as the spy pictures revealed. The India-spec Trailblazer will have a beige-black theme, which will be accentuated by piano-black trim on the centre console. The speedo console gets a MID and the highlight of the cabin would be the Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system. The car’s gear-lever also gets some chrome highlights.
The Chevrolet TrailBlazer is available in most markets with two diesel engine options and a petrol motor. The entry-level diesel engine displaces 2.5-litres and pumps out a max. power of 150 BHP, along with a peak torque of 350 Nm. The second oil burner displaces 2.8-litres and has a max. Power-torque of 180 BHP-470 Nm. The petrol engine is a V6 unit that displaces 3.6-litres and produces 239 BHP-360 Nm.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer India price could be around INR 21.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the entry-level model. Such pricing would place the upcoming SUV right into the Fortuner territory.
Clearly it takes on the Toyota Fortuner. Stay tuned for more updates from the 4wheelreviews.
