Fiat launched Abarth Punto at Rs 9.95 lakh ex-showroom. The Abarth Punto is the first proper hatch in Inda under the Rs 10 lakh bracket. For those wondering why there is no FIAt badge and instead a scorpion, Abarth makes performance versions of the Fiat cars and their logo is the scorpion.
Abarth Punto is powered by 1.4 litre T-jet engine producing 145 bhp and 212 Nm of torque that will make this car throw the competition out of the water. Made in India, the Abarth Punto will be available across 100+ exclusive dealerships pan India, the company said in a press statement. It accelerates to 100 kmph in just 8.8 seconds which is 2.2 seconds less than the Polo GTI. The Maruti Swift and the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz times are not even mentionable when compared to the Abarth Punto. The company claims that the Punto will return an economy of 16.3 kmpl which is really good for this sort of performance.
Abarth Punto will sport 16-inch alloys with Scorpion Sting design and disc brakes on all four wheels to stop this beast make a good sight for the eye. Suspension setup has also been altered for racetrack. This has been achieved with different dampers and lower ground clearance measuring 155 mm. The visual differentiators of this car will be the Abarth decals all around with iconic Scorpion on the top of the roof. Abarth treatments extends inside the cabin too as it gets special black upholstery with red and yellow stitching and additional supportive cushioning. Abarth will throw in an electric boot for additional convenience.
Fiat recently launched the Abarth 595 Competizione which was brought to India to launch the Abarth brand and priced at Rs 29.5 lakh rupees. Fiat has already confirmed the Abarth Avventura for launch and reports suggest Fiat is also considering a 140 bhp Linea for the Indian market.
