Sahara Force India Formula 1 team expects to retain the current driver lineup of Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez for 2016. Sahara Force India is known to be one of the last teams to announce driver lineups; usually around Christmas for the season beginning the following March.
This time, Nico Hulkenberg is in demand after a spectacular win at the 24 hour Le Mans race. Renault is in the process of buying out Lotus team to become a works team once again. They have an eye on the German driver who is easily one of the most talented drivers on the grid.
Mexican Sergio Perez is also an exciting prospect and a very aggressive driver who has learnt from his experiences and has had done a good job for the team in the two seasons. Both these guys are result oriented and Vijay Mallya, Team Principal of Sahara Force India has expressed his desire to continue with the existing lineup for next season.
“The aim is to keep both of them next year,” Mallya told AUTOSPORT. “I’m confident we will keep them both.
“Of course until contracts are signed, I won’t confirm anything, but I do not believe they will leave the team. Nico has been fantastic this year, he is one of the best drivers out there and we’re very pleased with him. It’s the same for Checo. I couldn’t be happier with them both.”
“There is no deadline,” he said. “History will tell you I am probably one of the last to announce the line-up. The drivers are committed, the motivation levels are high and they are delighted with the B-spec car and the direction the team is going in. If they didn’t want to stay, they would tell me. We’re very good friends and have a good relationship. I’m happy with both drivers and I think both are happy with the team.”
