Hero MotoCorp has revealed the production version of the XPulse 200, a 200cc on-off road motorcycle that will be launched in the next few months. The XPulse will be priced close to Rs. 1 lakh, making it much cheaper than the Royal Enfield Himalayan 400. The XPulse shares its 200cc four stroke engine with the Xtreme 200R. The air cooled engine is fuel injected and makes 19.4 PS of peak power and 17.1 Nm of peak torque. A 5 speed manual gearbox is standard, and the bike comes with an impressive set of features that will make it Hero’s flagship model.
While it shares its platform with the Xtreme 200R, it has enough changes to suit both on and off road riding. The front wheel is a 21 incher while the rear is an 18 inch unit. Both wheels are shod with dual purpose tyres, and the bike has a ground clearance of 220 mm. An aluminium skid plate comes standard.
The bike uses telescopic front forks with a 190 mm travel while the rear monoshock gets 170 mm travel and is 10 step adjustable. The bike also has an upswept exhaust that’ll let it get across water crossings. It also has a fully digital instrument cluster with features such as turn-by-turn navigation, fully LED headlamp, provision for luggage mounting, knuckle guards and ABS, which is tuned for both on-road and off-road use.
While the Royal Enfield Himalayan is much more powerful, with a 400cc engine and 24 Bhp-32 Nm, it weighs over 180 kilograms. In contrast, the XPulse 200 will be much more lighter, with a kerb weight of about 140 kilograms. In terms of performance, it should be able to hold its own against the Himalayan, which isn’t available in India with ABS yet. Hero will launch the XPulse after it’s done with the Xtreme 200R’s launch. The XPulse should be in showrooms before the middle of the year.
