Hero unveils HX250R

A very unexpected move from Hero MotoCorp yesterday, when it unveiled the HX250R performance Two wheeler. The HX250R is a light weight performance bike designed and developed by Hero with the help of partners like Eric Buell Racing (USA), Engines Engineering (Italy) and AVL (Austria).

Lets just get on with the most important part, the engine. The HX250R features a 250cc (249cc actually) liquid cooled single cylinder engine which belts out max power of 31 PS and a max torque of 26 Nm. In another unexpected move, the engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, a first for Hero MotoCorp.

The 0-60kmph time is 2.7 seconds (impressive!).

The engine was developed by the company indigenously and bears no resemblance to Honda`s quarter litre pot.

The HX250R is quite a looker. The company`s Lightning Bolt design is implemented rather well. The twin headlights and humongous windscreen are well designed. Another striking feature is the exhaust system which is located under the seat.

Along with the HX250R Hero MotoCorp also unveiled 4 other models:

  • Brand new Hero Extreme
  • Leap, a hybrid scooter
  • Hero Dash, 110cc moped
  • RNT, 150cc Diesel scooter concept

All we can say is great going Hero!
