Hyundai Elite i20 Facelift: Maruti Baleno-rivaling car fully revealed

Here are brand new spyshots of the 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 Facelift, which fully and clearly reveal the front and rear styling of the car. The car will be launched tomorrow, at the 2018 Auto Expo. The prices and variant details will also be revealed tomorrow but we have enough indications to make our own predictions.

Here goes. The i20 Elite Facelift will continue to operate in the premium hatchback segment, whose other occupants are the Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and the Volkswagen Polo GT twins. The new i20 will be priced less than Rs. 5.5 lakhs, which makes it competitive against the Baleno, Polo and Jazz.

Coming to the spyshots, they reveal that the i20 Elite Facelift will get mild stylistic changes. The front end gets a new bumper and grille while the rear gets new tail lamps, bumper and hatch lid. The sides of the car remain almost unchanged except for new alloy wheels.

Interiors of the new car may get changes in terms of the colour scheme but the overall look and feel will be similar to the older version. The new car will gain a larger touchscreen infotainment display, which will also get new features for better smartphone integration.

The 1.4 liter diesel engine will be unchanged. This motor – which makes 89 Bhp and 220 Nm, will be paired to a 6 speed manual gearbox with the 6th gear functioning as an overdrive ratio. The 1.4 liter petrol engine will be dropped, along with the 4 speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

What Hyundai will instead offer is the 1.2 liter petrol engine mated to a all-new CVT automatic gearbox. This engine, which makes 82 Bhp and 115 Nm, will also be offered with a 5 speed manual gearbox. Now, over to the launch tomorrow. Watch this space for live updates from the Auto Expo.
