Frankfurt Motor Show Launches: Jaguar F-Pace

Jaguar has been on the upswing with its latest launches. The F-Type was hailed by automotive pundits and customers all over the world unanimously. Jaguar decided to make SUV for the first time ever and have come up with Jaguar F-Pace. The SUV, which will be relatively easy on the pocket but high on performance.

We saw a lot of teasers, spy shots, even one as a support vehicle in this year’s Tour de France. But here it the real deal; unveiled today at the Frankfurt Motor Show. There will be rear and four-wheel drive versions, as well as petrol, diesel, manual and automatic cars – with the top-spec model lifting its 375bhp supercharged V6 straight from the Jaguar F-Type sports car.

There will be five main F-Pace variants: a 178bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel, in AWD or rear-drive form with a manual or auto ’box; a 237bhp petrol; a supercharged 3.0-litre petrol in 335bhp or 375bhp forms, and the 297bhp 3.0-litre twin turbodiesel.

The F-Pace will go on sale in April in Britain. In India, we might have to wait longer, maybe till the festive season of 2016. Jaguar claims the F-Pace will behave well off-road, despite having an on-road bias. It has fractionally more ground clearance than the Discovery Sport, a rival from Jaguar’s sister company Land Rover. And while the Land Rover is still the better option should you want to cross a river, thanks to a wading depth of 700mm, the F-Pace’s 525mm figure trumps the 500mm of the Audi Q5.

Standard equipment on basic Prestige models, includes heated leather seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and a power bootlid. DAB radio, WiFi connectivity and sat-nav are also standard. Step up to the mid-spec R-Sport model and you’ll get 19-inch wheels, sports seats, xenon headlamps, a sports body kit and gloss black detailing.Range-topping S models boast 20-inch wheels, red brake calipers, a specific body kit and Jag’s clever adaptive damping system, which monitors wheel movement 500 times a second.
