British car maker Jaguar has launched locally assembled Jaguar XJ saloon at Rs. 92.1 lakh in India. The car is now cheaper by Rs. 24 lakhs, just because of CKD route. The CBU route XJ used to cost Rs. 1.12 Cr. The car will be assembled at JLR’s Chikhli plant behind Tata Motors where Mercedes-Benz used to assemble before they shifted to the Chakan plant. Jaguar XJ had tough competition from recently launched Audi A8 and BMW 7 series in terms of pricing. Bringing its flagship model into India via CKD route to penetrate pricing surely shows Jaguar’s aggressive step towards Indian luxury car market.
Jaguar XJ in India is available in two variants, the XJ premium luxury LWB and the XJ Portfolio LWB. Both these variants are available in petrol as well as diesel variants. Petrol variant has 2 liter turbocharged engine that churns 240 bhp and a torque of 340 Nm and it is not locally assembled yet hence priced more than the diesel variant. The petrol powered Jaguar XJ can reach speeds from 0-100kmph mark in 7.5 seconds. The diesel variant is powered by 3 liter turbocharged V6 diesel mill that produces 275 bhp of power and 600Nm of torque. Only diesel variant is available with CKD assembly route. Diesel powered XJ achieves 0-100kmph mark in just 6.4 seconds.
Jaguar XJ comes with loaded equipments in its segment making it unique with such a price tag. The car gets range of accessories to choose from comfort, touring and utility options to enhance experience of owning a Jaguar. Just like all Mercedes-Benz cars, Jaguars are also chauffer driven and hence all offerings are focused on rear seat comfort that includes rear seat comfort pack with massage feature, reclining seats and adjustable lower back, navigation system and meridian sound system. Looking at safety features the car gets all Jaguar goodies like Jaguar Drive control (Normal/Winter/Dynamic modes), adaptive dynamics, automatic speed limiter and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control)
