The company only showed one picture of the car for the guests on the first day of the Geneva Motor Show. Form the picture we can make out that the XE has taken styling cues from Jaguars previous concept, the CX-17 including the front grille and headlamps. The grille and the bonnet line are fairly lower on the XE as compared to other saloons in the segment. The car itself looks quite different as far as three-box sedan design goes with the steep rear window and short boot deck.

The XE will be Jaguars second car to be based on the  CX-17`s aluminium architecture after the CX-17  SUV itself. This makes the Jaguar XE the first car in its segment to get an all aluminium monocoque. Jaguar claims the XE is “set to be the most advanced, efficient and refined sports sedan in its class”

The XE will run on JLRs new high-power-output four cylinder engine family, named the Ingenium. The engines on offer will vary from ones who can power the car upto 186mph to those who can acheive CO2 emissions of less than 100g/km. The engines will be manufactured at JLRs new plant in Wolverhampton, UK. The engines will work in longitudinal or transverse configuration. This will enable the car to have four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive.

JLR has payed special attention to the XE`s suspension to make it a better handler than the BMW 3 Series, the current favorite. The company will try to build up its image in the premium car segment by assuring good ride and handling in all models henceforth.

The Jaguar XE is expected to dwelve in to different body styles, including an estate, a coupé and a convertible version.

Full details, technical and variants, of the XE will be revealed later this year when the production version of the XE will be showcased. The car will go on sale in  2015 with prices in the range of  £25,000 and £30,000(INR 27-30 lakhs).
