Kawasaki Versys 650 launch in December this year.
The Versys 650 was imported to India a few months back, making us guess whether it will be launched this year or the next. However, it has now been almost confirmed that the bike will be launched before year end going by the Autocar report.
The Kawasaki Versys 650 is a tourer bike with a 649cc Liquid-cooled DOHC parallel twin, four valves per cylinder engine. It develops 68bhp of power at 8,500rpm and torque of 63.7Nm at 7,000rpm mated to six-speed transmission. It has 41mm hydraulic telescopic fork with stepless adjustable rebound and preload at the front, while, at the rear, single offset laydown shock with remote adjustable spring preload does the duty. Braking is taken care of by dual 300mm petal rotors with two-piston calipers and ABS at the front and single 250mm petal rotor with single-piston caliper and ABS on the rear wheel.
Front and rear tires measure at 120/70-17 and 160/60-17 respectively. Other features include a larger windscreen with tool-less adjusters which has up to 2.4 in. of vertical adjustment and reach adjustable handle bars, two important things that you want as a tourer. The Versys 650 will come with dual headlights, large capacity fuel tank and LED tail lights.
Honda recently launched the CBr 650F and it was devised to be a perfect tourer, it came with a price tag of almost Rs eight lakh on road, which ws in the Kawasaki Z800 territory. The two motorcycles were not in the same category but many were tempted with Z800’s additional power and mean looks. But now with Kawasaki Versys 650 launch, the battle is going to be evenly matched. Only question is how will Kawasaki price it.
The report further says the possible colour options are green and black while the white colour in the international range will not be available in India. Kawasaki India currently sells Z1000, Ninja 1000, Versys 1000, Z800, Z250 and top of the range Ninja H2 in India.
