So how do you celebrate your favourite superhero? Why, you build a concept car of course!
Kia in collaboration with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment brings out these set of claws on wheels to celebrate the launch of “X-Men: Days of Future Past” on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD and Kia’s sponsorship of the Australian Open 2015. And yes, the promotional video will feature Rafael Nadal!
So how would you like to win a free dvd copy of the movie? Follow the directive from the press release:
“In the run-up to the unveiling of the one-off model, Kia Motors is inviting fans of the X-Men franchise and the Korean car manufacturer to guess which X-Men character has inspired the car’s unique design. Visitors who go to the Kia Motors Facebook page at http://bit.ly/KiaXmen can guess from four iconic X-Men characters: Storm, Wolverine, Mystique and Magneto. Fans guessing correctly will be entered into a prize draw to win a DVD copy of X-Men: Days of Future Past.”
Speaking of the concept, it sure looks dangerous. The standout features being the triple fangs all around, near the fog lamps and at the back. The front has a masculine grill with the X sitting right at the centre just below the Kia branding. The sides have this X branding as a graphic treatment while at the back, no need to point out the obvious! The overall styling is not subtle (well behaved) but wild and full of energy.
The Sorento is already on sale in Korea and this concept, apart from promoting the brand, points towards visible design directions for the company. It has been planned for an early release in 2015. After its unveiling the Kia X car will be on display at the Melbourne Park throughout the Australian Open. The press release from the company claims that the new model is quieter and more refined than its predecessor and it has been jazzed up with a host new technologies. What they are, it remains to be seen.
Marketing sure seems to have come a long way. And we’re not complaining with more and more eye candy.
