The most favorite electric car in India would be the Mahindra Reva, a compact electric car formerly manufactured by the Reva Electric Car Company. In the month of May, 2010 Mahindra & Mahindra took over the company and started the manufacturing on a much larger scale. The design of the car was also changed making it more appealing to the customers.
The most eco-friendly you can become is by buying an electric car like the Mahindra Reva E2O and using it on the busy city roads. You just have to charge the vehicle overnight and you are good to go. The compactness of the car gives an added advantage of easy riding in overcrowded cities. However the Reva missed out on a power steering and this absence of this made the drive not as effortless as it should be. Even the Tata Nano now comes with an option to include power steering in the package.
To please the customers with a good quality drive in the car, Mahindra has announced that they would be bringing an electric power steering for their Reva E2O. This news was first seen on Mahindra Reva’s Facebook page. Reva E2O has a brushless electric motor powered by a set of lithium ion batteries; the Reva E2O is capable of producing a maximum torque of 55 Nm and 25.4 Bhp of power. The car can travel up to 100kms with a top speed of 80 kmph with a single charge and the air conditioner turned OFF. With the AC ON the car manages to travel for 85 kms. Equipped with a CVT transmission, a system which charge the batteries when brakes are used (similar to KERS) and now a power steering, Reva E2O will surely attract more customers.
Available in two variants of which the T2 is a top end variant which comes with a navigation system is priced at Rs 6.09 lakh( Ex-showroom Delhi) and the lower T0 variant will has a price tag of Rs 5.81 lakh. However if the subsidies under NEMMP (Indian government’s National Electric Mobility Mission Plan) 2020 are implemented the prices on the Reva will surely come down.
