Mahindra & Mahindra have a list of surprises for us in 2015 and it all starts with the launch of the Scorpio S4+ and S6+ variants. We first saw the S4 and S6 variants launched in September last year. The S4+ and S6+ will have loads of safety features. While the S4+ variant has an optional four-wheel drive the S6+ will be available in two-wheel drive only.
The S4+ variant will have ABS, EBD, airbags, seatbelt reminder warning system, panic brake indication and follow-me-home headlamps as a standard fit for every model. S4+ will have an optional All-wheel drive system. The S4 variants will have a standard two-wheel drive system without any 4WD options. The S6+ will only have a two-wheel drive system powering the car’s rear wheels.
The S4+ will be powered by a 2.2 liter four cylinder diesel engine. This turbocharged engine mated with a five-speed manual gearbox is capable to produce a torque of 280Nm and 112PS of power. Already after the launch Mahindra managed to sell 3469 units last month of the new Scorpio.
The AWD variant of the S4+ is priced around 10.83 lakhs and the S6+ will be sold at Rs. 10.75 lakhs(ex-showroom Delhi). However the prices are likely to go up as Mahindra has not updated the new prices after the changes in the excise duty. We are likely to see many more facelifts and new product launches from Mahindra this year.
