Maruti Celerio will now be offered with ABS and Airbags for all the variants including the base variant.
Maruti Suzuki launched the Celerio at the Auto Expo 2014. The Celerio was the first car in India to be offered with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) which the manufacturer calls Auto Gear Shift (AGS). Given the affordable rates and excellent fuel efficiency, the car became an instant. Besides, it is the only car offering three fuel types : petrol, diesel and CNG.
However, the car lacked basic safety features. Only the top end was offered with ABS and Airbags. But, not anymore, the near perfect car is now even closer to perfection. India’s largest automaker today announced that the Maruti Celerio will be offered with optional Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Airbags across all variants including the base variant. The company also announced a similar package for the Swift twins last week.
“Through Celerio we have always tried to offer the best to customers. By offering safety features like airbags for driver and co-driver, and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) from the base variant onwards in Celerio, we are making it more attractive for customers. I am happy that we are able to offer these safety features on Celerio much ahead of regulations,” said R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India

These moves indicates the buyer culture in the industry is changing. People are now understanding the value of these basic safety features.
