While the Versa failed to leave an impact on the car buyers, the Ertiga has been really successful and has been the only MPV from Maruti that has managed to establish a strong foothold in the market. The Ertiga MPV, which offers fairly spacious interiors, frugal motors and the trust that comes associated with Maruti products, has become a cheaper alternative to the bigger Toyota Innova. However, in recent times, the Ertiga has been facing some heat from the Honda Mobilio MPV.
However, it now seems that Maruti Suzuki has decided to do something about this unfavorable situation and is preparing itself to launch an updated version of its popular MPV. Seen above is the first ever spy image of the Maruti Ertiga facelift and from what we can make out from this picture, it seems that the new model will come with a highly revised front fascia. Also, as is the case with most such facelifts from Maruti, the Maruti Ertiga facelift will boast of only a cosmetic makeover and will continue with the same mechanicals. This means that the engine options for the Ertiga 2015 will include petrol, diesel and CNG powered motors. While the Ertiga petrol is powered by a 1.4 liter K-series four cylinder engine, the diesel Ertiga gets very popular Fiat sourced 1.3 litre four cylinder turbocharged Multijet diesel engine. Both the engines come mated with a five-speed manual transmission that send power to the front wheels. However, the carmaker also sells the Ertiga with a four speed automatic transmission in some export markets. It will be now interesting to see if the auto variant will make its Indian-debut with the facelifted model.
The Ertiga facelift, as we said earlier, will carry an updated front fascia. The revised front end will have a new radiator grille and refreshed bumper. The rear end too could see a new bumper. On the inside too, the Ertiga could boast of some really minor cosmetic changes
