Maruti Suzuki launched the hybrid Ciaz at Rs. 8.23 lakh with an ARAI certified mileage of 28.09 kmpl which, makes it the most fuel efficient car of the country. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz mild hybrid will replace the existing diesel lineup of the car.
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be priced between Rs. 8.23 and 10.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the exterior there will be no change except for the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) badge on the boot. Incorporated with an ISG (Integrated Starter Generator), Suzuki’s new mild hybrid system – SHVS – offers engine power assistance using the motor, and thus achieves efficient power generation. With the help of ISG, the system also provides assistance to the engine start-stop technology. All these factors combine to improve fuel economy over its rival, Honda City, by over 2 kmpl.
Suzuki Ciaz SHVS measures the same as the current model with 4,490mm in length, 1,730mm in width and 1,485mm in height. The Ciaz has a ground clearance of 170mm and a wheelbase of 2,650mm. Under the hood, the new model will be using the same 1.3-litre turbo-diesel, but will come paired with a larger capacity battery, integrated starter generator and start-stop technology.
While the SHVS technology will be imported, the high import cost will be offset by the incentives given by the government through lower excise duty of 12.5 per cent and subsidy extension of Rs 12,000- Rs 13,000 under electric and hybrid vehicle policy of FAME ( Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles in India), which will help the company save about Rs.1 lakh on thecar price.
ON the safety front, Maruti Suzuki is now also offering driver-side airbag across all Ciaz variants. Higher trims will get other added safety features. Maruti Ciaz SHVS Hybrid will be offered in Vdi, Vdi (O), Vdi+, Zdi & Zdi+ variants.
