The strategy from Maruti Suzuki seems to have an automatic variant on every car in their miscellany. Close on the heels of WagonR being spied with an Automated Manual Transmission(AMT), news has come in that the Swift and Dzire will get AMT before March 2016.
The company started using ‘Auto Gear Shift’ on the Maruti Suzuki Celerio which was followed by the Alto K10. In the coming days, we will see it on the WagonR. According to reports, the company will bring AMT to the Swift and Dzire before the end of financial year 2016.
According to the report, the AMT will come mated to the diesel mill and the ZDi variant. Currently, Maruti is behind the competition since the competitors already have started selling models with AMT/CVT. The Figo Aspire gets a modern 6-speed dual-clutch Powershift transmission, the Amaze features a conventional 5-speed AT, whereas the Zest offers a 5-speed AMT with a diesel engine.
The 1.3-litre diesel engine produces 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque with a fuel efficiency of 26.59 km/l (ARAI). Inside the cabin, keyless entry, start/stop button, electric foldable and adjustable ORVMs, automatic climate control, audio system with Bluetooth connectivity and reverse parking sensors have made it to the top-end variants. There will be no changes on the exterior.
The car was caught testing in May this year, but the likes of Alto K10 and WagonR were the first ones to get the AMT. Swift Dzire is currently the top selling model in its segment for a long time with the competition not being able to challenge it. With this AMT, it will come u to speed with competition and once again will become the car to beat with people always preferring the trusted Maruti badge.
