What appears to be the most beautiful sign for Tata Motors lovers is that their new Nano GenX is launched today and begins sales in the week forthcoming. This release could even be a make-or-break move for their brand. While the release happens today, many claim that it could take on the entry level hatchbacks like Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon which sell about 15000 units every month.
The new Nano GenX comes with a record breaking 21 different options which offers Bluetooth connectivity and automatic gear transmission. The company has invested more than $1 billion and Girish Wagh, senior VP, programme, planning and project management for passenger vehicle division, at Tata Motors, feels it’s a ‘make or break’ moment for Tata Nano.
Earlier, Tata Nano was never competing amongst the entry level hatchbacks amidst creating more speculations on its release that every single citizen can afford to buy one. But, the GenX Nano is a key move from the company and the needle has moved up in terms of competitive positions, he added.
This new compact car segment is expected to be priced between Rs 2.25 lakh to Rs 2.99 lakh, the GenX Nano is pitted to be the world’s most affordable automatic car. The car was designed out from several feedbacks from the customers who were already in touch with the 1000 owners of previous Nano and 1500 owners of competing brands. Now, the GenX Nano is better looking, has stronger body, and improved fit and finish with key functional features like a small boot, power steering, automatic transmission and fully loaded Bluetooth connectivity.
With the different body colour and interior options, it will have the widest choice of 21 variants for the customer to choose from. The most significant feature of the New GenX is that, this car also has an interesting creep function in the automatic variant, wherein the vehicle moves steadily on its own, if the foot is released of the acceleration or brake pedal. The move is considered as a big boon and offers comfort in a bumper to bumper traffic in major cities. There is also a Sports mode option, wherein the user gets rush of power with just a press of a button
The Gen X Nano comes with a much stronger body shell, with higher strength steel and side beam enforcements, an automatic transmission with a five speed gear box, a new instrument panel, openable tail gate with 90-110 litres of boot space, flat bed rear seat, stronger air conditioner, and improved noise vibration and harshness or NVH package amongst other things
Almost a decade back in 2005, Tata Nano was released and it was totally unheard among the people. Let’s see how much hopes it gives on its successor Nano Genx. The day has come and I feel the hopes on it are already flooding.
