It’s official now : Tata Motors to launch Bolt hatchback on 20th January 2015. The much awaited car from Tata Motors that will have many features first time in the segment. Team AutoColumn was the first to show you, the readers, first ever production body version of Tata Bolt and we also told you back in Oct 2014 about delaying of Bolt launch from Tata Motors due to quality and fuel economy issues.
Year 2015’s first launch from Tata Motors will be the Bolt hatchback. Sharing X1 platform with the Zest compact sedan, the Bolt will be positioned under Zest in terms of pricing. Just like Zest expect a very competitive pricing for the Bolt and as we speculate it will be 3.99 Lakhs. Bookings of the Bolt are already open via online portal and deliveries of Bolt hatchback are expected to commence soon after the launch.
In terms of engine the Bolt will have same engines as the Zest, 1.2 liter turbo petrol (Revvotron) motor in petrol that pumps 88 bhp and 140 Nm of torque and in diesel mill same 1.3 liter Fiat’s improved version of multijet engine that produces 74 bhp of peak power and 190 Nm of peak torque. 5 speed manual gearbox will be standard for both variants. AMT variant will come with 1.2 liter turbo petrol engine. As Tata Zest AMT is already having long waiting periods, expect the waiting periods of Bolt likely to shoot up for AMT variant.
Tata Bolt will be the best value for money car in its segment. The Bolt gets top quality of interiors and features similar to Zest compact sedan, including 3 driving modes, touch screen infotainment system. Tata Indica was not preferred by the family car buyers just because it was more famous in taxi market and was carrying same image. We have also seen that Tata Motors not displayed any white colour in Bolt and Zest advertisements or in promotions that connects to taxi image of the car. Tata Motors worked really hard to attract family car buyers with new engineering and quality under HORIZONEXT strategy. Stay tuned for latest updated on Tata Bolt right here at AutoColumn.
