Renault Kwid has been nothing short of impossible being achieved at a phenomenal price point. The French automaker launched the Kwid at a starting price of Rs. 2.57 lakh and shocked almost every automotive pundit. The bookings crossed 25,000 in just 12 days and now, the deliveries have begun.
The Renault Kwid delivery has begun in metro cities with Tier II and III cities getting it by next week, right when the festive season begins. The company faces huge challenge to satiate the appetite of the customers with waiting period hovering around the 3-onth mark.
In order to counter the Kwid the largest selling car Alto is being sold at discounts upto Rs 35,000 and the Hyundai Eon being offered at a discount of Rs 37,000.
The Kwid will come with an 800cc engine to start with and later on 1.0-liter engine with an option of AMT. The 800cc mill will have a power output of about 57bhp which, for a few, might seem less. It must not be forgotten that this is a small car with mileage more of a concern than performance and with a total weight of just 660 kg to move around, it should make for a peppy little engine.
Measuring 3680mm in length and 1580mm in width, the 2016 Renault Kwid will be the most spacious vehicle in its segment. It will also have the segment-leading ground clearance of 180mm, which is, in fact, more than several crossovers/SUVs in India. The boot space is 300 litres which can be increased to 1115 litres once you flip the rear seats. The ARAI mileage on the Kwid is a healthy 25. 17 kmpl.
The segment leading features include Medianav system that has navigation Bluetooth audio streaming and hands-free telephony, USB and aux–input ports and speed sensing volume control. The car also boasts of digital instrument cluster.
