It has been almost a month, since the first rumors spilled out about KTM planning to launch the KTM 390 Adventure, which is based on the very successful street bike by KTM the Duke 390. But as you know rumors are rumors, but for KTM they seem to be partially true, cause once again the hottest trending topic currently, is about the new rendered images of the 390 Adventure.
As seen in the newly rendered image, the 390 Adventure seems to sport a new frame. The new frame is totally designed to take on any terrain, unlike the Duke 390 which is meant for city maneuvering on paved roads. Along with a new frame the 390 Adventure will get a new suspension with longer travel and better off-road stability and compliance and metal wired spoke wheels.
Talking about the design, the 390 Adventure borrows its design concept from the bigger sibling the Adventure 1190. The 390 Adventure is said to sport a bigger fuel tank (approx 16 liters), upright riding position, ABS, a bigger ACG to support touring gear, all of which add up to give that long distance ride- the comfort touch.
The power that is drawn by the 390 Adventure, comes from a 373.2cc, water cooled, four-stroke, single cylinder engine, which produces 43.6PS of power at 9500RPM and a maximum torque of 32Nm at 7250 RPM. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox, similar to the 390 Duke.
The Austrian Motorcycle manufacturers KTM are on a roll, with the upcoming launches of the RC390 and RC200 this September, KTM have already created a buzz about the 390 Adventure, which is said to launch by 2015 in India. The 390 Adventure may be priced a little more than the Duke 390, with this aggressive pricing scheme, its off-road and on-road riding capabilities and with no direct competition from the market, the KTM 390 Adventure has a good chance to mark its spot as well as pave the path for this new niche bike segment market in India.
