You read it first on AutoColumn! 2015 Ford Everest which was unveiled few weeks back to world was planned to launch in second quarter of 2015 in India, but due to global timeline shift the Everest (Endeavour) will launch in last quarter of 2015 in India. The new SUV from Ford will start its production in Thailand market and then the CKD kit will come to India from Thailand production house of Ford.
The new Ford Endeavour gets revised design inside out and its a complete new vehicle instead of mere facelift. The current Ford Endeavour is now generation old and runs on a pickup truck chassis with leaf springs suspensions at rear. It is far away from the comfort point of view when compared with other SUVs available in the market of same price. The 2015 Ford Endeavour is a whole new product that will be pitched against Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa-Fe and Skoda’s Yeti SUV. In terms of looks and features the new Endeavour is very much promising and this will be surely a game changer for Ford India in the SUV market after Ford EcoSport’s success. Just like current generation Endeavour the SUV will shares some mechanical bits with the Ranger pick-up it is based on but we expect better comfort and space in the new SUV. Both 4WDs share a ladder-chassis design, but where the Ranger’s backend rides on cargo-style leaf springs, the Endeavour gets coil springs matched to a live axle with a Watts linkage.
Under the bonnet 2015 Ford Endeavour likely to get options of 2.5 liter and 3 liter diesel engines producing 145 and 155 PS respectively. The engines are more refined than the current ones and will be mated to 5 speed manuan transmission to 2.5 liter variant and 5 speed automatic transmission to 3 liter variant.
