Ford India has commenced the testing for the new Figo and the compact sedan based on the Figo, reportedly to be called Figo Aspire in India.
Powering the Figo Aspire will be a 1.2 L TiCVT petrol engine and the 1.5 L diesel mill which is currently employed in the Fiesta and the Ecosport. The 5-speed manual gearbox will continue but Ford might employ its dual-clutch Powershift Gearbox with a powerful 1.5 L petrol engine.
The images also show a third vehicle, the Ka+ full size sedan which is sold in the Brazilian market. The Ka+ falls into the same segment as the Fiesta in the Indian market and hence we doubt whether the Ka+ will make it to the Indian roads anytime soon.
Ford will inaugurate new facility in Sanand soon and the Figo Aspire and the new Figo will be made at the same plant. The same plant will also produce cars for the international market.
