The next generation E-Class prototype has been spotted testing in Germany. In another video the station-wagon version has also been spotted.
The upcoming generation is called on the W123 and is based on the MRA Platform. The W123 will be larger in terms of size but will be lighter than the present version.
Mercedes has been late in following the “Family look” in terms of designs but with the last generation C and this new E-Class, it looks like they have finally decided to opt for it. With people already confusing between the S-Class and the C-Class now, the addition of the E-Class will only make matters worse.
The videos show only the sedan and the estate version, but Mercedes will not shy away from launching the cabrio and the coupe versions. Reports also suggest Mercedes bringing the Maybach brand name to the E-Class by offering an extended wheelbase version among other luxury goodies. This time around however, the extended wheelbase model will not be limited to the Republic of China and will be unveiled in many others countries.
The expected time of final unveiling is around January 2016 post which, all the versions will be launched according to the regions.
