Finally it is here- After years of planning and hard work, Volvo is finally ready and unveiled the companies most important model in recent times, the all new 2015 Volvo XC90.
Talking about power first, Volvo plans to launch the Volvo XC90in four engine options: a 2.0 liter, D4 turbo-diesel engine, which produces 190 HP and 400 Nm of torque, a 2.0 liter, D5 twin-turbo, diesel engine, with 225 BHP and 470 Nm of torque, a 2.0 liter, T5 turbo, petrol engine, which churns out 254 BHP and 350 Nm of torque and the range-topping powerful and refined T6 engine, which is both turbocharged and supercharged, with a maximum power output of 320 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. Volvo has packed the XC90 with a range of powerful, refined and performance based engines.
As seen in the picture the XC90 is plugged into an electric car charging source, which may mean that Volvo is planning to also include another drivetrain option which would be: the T8 Twin Engine Plug- In-Hybrid, which uses a 320 HP gasoline engine along with an electric motor bolted to the rear axle, which churns out around 82 HP for a combined output of around 400 BHP of power and 640 Nm of torque.
Moving on to the exterior design of the new Volvo XC90- it showcases sheer class. The front of the new Volvo XC90 has been completely re-designed with a new grille with the Volvo badging, the jaw dropping slender headlamps, which are fitted with “Thor’s Hammer” inspired DRL’s and the bumper now carries a different air-dam configuration- with one large inlet flanked by two chrome highlighted vents and additional smaller inlets in the lower apron. The crisp creases on the bonnet and hood add the muscular look to the Volvo XC90.
Moving around to the back, the Volvo XC90 sports, new tailgate height tail lamps, the revised bumper shows off a dual exhaust system and the 21-inch “inscription” alloy wheels, gives the Volvo XC90 a sleek and premium look.
The Interior of the Volvo XC90 is easily the most luxurious and technologically advanced interiors, compared to any of Volvo’s SUV. The stunning slabs of flamed-birch wood around the cabin, Soft Nappa leather seats, the classy looking crystal glass gear leaver and the diamond-cut engine start-stop button creates a different aura altogether. The company’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SAP) as seen on the S60 and XC60 models in India, provide the Volvo XC90 with more room and better safety. The Volvo XC90 includes a new centrally mounted tablet sized touchscreen display- which controls practically all of the XC90’s different systems, leaving the XC90 with very few button controls- giving the cabin a futuristic touch.
The new Volvo XC90 offers the best technologically advanced safety standards, which includes two world-first safety technologies, namely: a “run-off protection”- if the driver looses control and runs off the road, the car detects and tightens the seatbelts and “auto-brake at intersection”- detects other vehicles in front of the car and stops, it also follows the vehicle ahead in” stop-and-go” traffic, giving a semi-autonomous driving experience.
Volvo has put in a lot of hard work to provide the best in class features and safety technology in the Volvo XC90, we hope that the XC90 will leave its rivals the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 way behind in every aspect.
