A milestone achieved- Ford India, officially announced that the compact SUV the Ford EcoSport has accomplished the task of selling 1,00,000 units in the Indian and global markets combined.
The compact SUV the FordEcoSport made its debut in June2013- it came, saw and conquered the hearts of the Indian customers with its style, power, premium features and an affordable price tag ranging from 6.30 lakhs- 9.69 lakhs (ex showroom Delhi). Ford India sold 60,000 units in India alone and exports the EcoSport to Nepal, Austrila, Taiwan, South Africa and several European countries.
The Ford EcoSport is available with a 1.5 liter, petrol engine, which produces 110 BHP of power and 140Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed Autobox, a 1.5 liter, TDCi diesel engine, which produces 90 BHP of power and 204 Nm of torque, which is coupled with a 5- speed manual. Ford also introduced the award-winning, first-in-its class 1.0 liter, EcoBoost engine, which produces 124 BHP of power and 170 Nm of torque. Along with well refined and powerful engines, Ford EcoSport also comes with top class features such as a airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, traction control button start, cooled glove-box and an updated infotainment system. Combined together with a stylish design concept, the EcoSport sold like hot-cakes, so much so that customers had to wait 8-9 months before they could own an EcoSport.
To tackle the increasing demand and curb the long waiting period for the EcoSport, commenting on the issue- Ford India Executive Director for Marketing and Sales, Vinay Piparsanis said “we are planning to introduce a third shift at our Chennai plant to ensure that the Ford EcoSport is available across our showrooms, ahead of the upcoming festive season.” This should help to roll out more units and speed up the deliveries to eagerly waiting customers.
The made-in-India compact SUV the Ford EcoSport, has been a pioneer in reviving Ford’s sales in India. Compared to its rivals the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano, which combined cannot match the sales figures of the EcoSport. “The 1,00,000 milestone is indeed special to all of us at Ford and further demonstrates the faith customers have in the product,”said Piparsania and we hope to further witness such great success by Ford India in the coming future.
