Indian Auto Expo is the biggest event for the Indian automobile industry. The expo sees dozens of new launches every year. The Indian Auto Expo 2016 is just 3 months away from now and we are here with a list of 5 SUV’s that can be expected at the expo. However, some of these are confirm to be launched at the expo and some of them are expected so the point to note down is that this list can have some alterations. The expo is to take place between 5 – 9 November 2016. The following are the SUV’s that can be expected at the Indian Auto Expo.
2016 Toyota Innova
The Toyota Innova has been a around for nearly a decade now. It saw a number of facelifts along the way but the 2016 Toyota Innova is not just a facelift but a new generation car. The car is being launched in the Indonesian market later this month. The new car in Indonesia is offered with 2.0-liter petrol and a 2.4-liter diesel engine. However, the Indian market only expects the diesel version. The 2016 Toyota Innova is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). It has a hexagonal grille in the front with two thick chrome bars that compliment its aggressive looks. The tails lamps are also redone. The sides of the car similar to the ongoing version. The dual tone interiors houses all new features. The next generation of India’s best selling MPV is expected to launch at the Indian Auto Expo 2016.
The Nissan X-Trail was the first product from the Japanese automaker in the Indian market in the year 2005. However, it did not enjoy any royalty at the sales front and was eliminated by the company in the year 2014. However, the development of premium SUV market in India made Nissan realize that it was a ‘now or never’ situation and hence, the company decided to bring it back. The third generation Nissan X-Trail gave up the boxy shape and adopted a more rounded shape to match Nissan’s current designing style. The headlamps, tail lamps, front grille, etc. has got updates. The SUV now rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. The new SUV will take on the likes of Honda CR-V and Hyundai Santa Fe. It will come to India via the CBU route. The new Nissan X-Trail is expected to launch at the Indian Auto Expo 2016.
The 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan was unveiled at the Frankfurt show 2015 and later showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show. The car is expected to launch in India by April 2016 and will make its first appearance at the Indian Auto Expo 2016. The crossover is based on the MQB platform that is shared by VW Golf, Audi A3 and Audi TT. Tiguan will be offered in TSI and 4 TDI diesel engines. This engine will be mated on a 6-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. Inspired by the Cross Coupe GTE, the SUV will rival the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V and Toyota Fortuner.
Mahindra XUV 500 Automatic
Mahindra at the launch of the XUV 500 facelift, said that there are two more variants of the car to be launched, one of the two was hybrid and the other one was automatic. No proper information about the hybrid XUV is available but the automatic version of the urban SUV is expected to be launched at the Indian Auto Expo 2016. Mahindra Scorpio is currently available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The new XUV is also expected to be fitted with a similar gearbox. No other changes are anticipated.
Tata motors has started rebuilding their brand from the scratch. It had launched a number of concepts at the Geneva Motor Show. One of them was a near production concept, the Tata Hexa. It is an Aria based SUV expected to do what Aria was not able to able on the sales chart. The new SUV will be offered in similar options to that of Aria. The Hexa concept offers a 2.2-liter VARICOR engine that produces 154 BHP and 300 NM of peak torque. It will be mated on a 6-speed manual transmission and a 4WD is also offered. The Tata Hexa is expected to lunch by April 2016 and will appear at the Indian Auto Expo 2016.
