Maruti Suzuki has just released the TVC of the all-new 2018 Swift. The car was launched yesterday at the 2018 Auto Expo, with prices starting from Rs. 4.99 lakhs, going all the way up to Rs. 8.29 lakhs. These prices are introductory and are subject to revision in the coming months.
Maruti has revealed that it has already received 40,000 bookings for the new car. Customer deliveries have already started in many parts of India. The Swift will be sold with petrol and diesel engine options. Both manual and AMT options will be offered on the petrol and diesel variants.
The new Swift looks very different from the older model in terms of design but the overall silhouette remains the same. The car continues to have a sporty look, something that appeals to both younger and older buyers. This universal appeal and new features will take the Swift’s sales to over 15,000 units/month, feels Maruti. We won’t disagree.
The car will be built at Hansalpur, Gujarat, where Maruti has a new factory. The car maker has even shifted production of the popular Baleno hatchback to Haryana, in order to use the entire factory exclusively for the new Swift. The 2018 Swift will not only be sold in India, but will also be exported to many markets in the surrounding countries.
In terms of new features, the LED projector headlamps will be loved by most, and also the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment unit on the inside. Other key new additions include the AMT option to both petrol and diesel engines, something that many buyers are likely to opt for as cities get more congested.
Other changes on the new Swift that people will actually appreciate are the new interiors, the increase in passenger space due to the 20mm longer wheelbase, the larger boot space and also the fact that airbags and ABS are now standard across all models.
