Yamaha Motor India is all set to launch a new product on 7th January. Yamaha has unveiled its much anticipated R25 at the Tokyo Motor show.
The Yamaha R25 engine will be a twin cylinder unit, making it a premium 250cc, compared to its Honda and Kawasaki rivals. The twin cylinder motor will be liquid-cooled and will use an advanced fuel injection system. The R25 borrows its styling from Yamaha’s M1 MotoGP machine, making it one of the best looking quarter-litre motorcycles. The production version of R25 has not been showcased by the manufacturer, neither have the test mules spotted. Thus the chances of launching the R 25 by Yamaha India are very less.
Yamaha is also developing a 110-100cc commuter motorcycles. The company has commenced development on an all-new, low cost motorcycle that will fit into the high volumes commuter segment of the Indian market.
All of a sudden, the scooter segment has became very attractive for all two wheeler manufacturers. Every one is actively participating in this segment. It seems Yamaha India is looking to strengthen its automatic scooter portfolio. Yamaha’s current line up includes two automatic scooter variants, the Ray and the Ray-Z. We suspect that Yamaha is planning to bring in new 125cc unisex scooter that will rival the country’s best scooter, the Honda Activa. All we can hope is a refreshing new product and not the usual model with new clothes.
