The new Yamaha MT-SLAZ is a street naked bike based on the small capacity YZF-R15. However, the fact that the new bike comes with upside down telescopic forks indicates the presence of a new platform which will can be used for the next generation R15.
The new Yamaha MT-SLAZ comes with a handsome LED headlamp to suit the character of the bike. It has new edgy metals like the Duke and a muscular tank along with a sporty housing for the engine. The over all visuals of the bike support the aggressive face of the naked bike. The teaser launched by Yamaha Motor Company Thailand also reveals the all-digital instrument of the new bike. The redline is indicated at 9,500 RPM.
The Yamaha MT-SLAZ is expected to be powered by the 149.8 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that also powers the YZF-R15. This engine mated on a 6-speed gearbox is good to produce 17 PS of power and 15 NM of peak torque. However, the gear ratios will be tweaked for the naked bike.
