Yawn! Another automatic variant launched. This time its Mahindra Scorpio.

Even I am bored with the kind of news that I am writing. This might be the seventh or eight article i have written about SUV’s in the 9-14 lakh range. Today I am writing about the Mahindra Scorpio.

Mahindra & Mahindra launched the all new Scorpio last year. It was a big step up over the previous version. It almost changed everything on the car including an all new chassis. It came with a 5-speed  automatic transmission on the top end. However, Mahindra thought it did not cut ice anymore. So they have brought an all new 6-speed transmission this time around. It has also been prices very strategically with a price difference of about Rs 45000 over the automatic Creta.

Available on the S10 trim, it is a 2WD SUV priced around the 13.13 lakh. The 4-wheel drive vehicle with a BS-IV automatic option, is priced at Rs 14.33 lakh – ex-showroom New Delhi. Mahindra had discontinued the older version of Scorpio automatic, which was a 5 speed automatic — at the launch of new generation Scorpio in September of 2014.

Launched in September 2014, the Scorpio has been built on an all-new platform with cushion suspension and anti-roll technologies and comes with contemporary, more aggressive exterior styling, luxurious blue-grey interiors and advanced technology features like SatNav in many regional Indian languages, interactive voice system which notifies if you haven’t put on seat belt which to be honest, is a bit creepy initially.

It is going to be nothing short of a slugfest with Scorpio, Creta, S-Cross, Duster with new and improved features debuting just before the festivities begin. All manufacturers would be on their toes to win this one. It is going to be interesting to see who comes out triumphant!!!!!
